Courtesy and Sportsmanship can go a long way PART ONE
Yes I am back. But this time I would like to tell you about a new found friend I recently met at the Chevy Wild Card at Lake Barkley. From the beginning when I was working on my boat at the motel and took time to speak to this fellow he was very polite and friendly . I have met and sorry to say many pro fishermen in this tournament business and not all but some where not friendly or polite. This fellow has been fishing tournaments since the 90's and so as you can see he has earned his badge as a Pro. He has accomplish much in the fishing world... He is fishing the FLW in the BFL southern league. I was listening to him talk to some other fishermen showing charts on his electronics and showing his gear as he was preparing to prefish. He didnt bother hiding anything and freely gave advice. Now in some areas Pro's dont want to tell their secrets or show you what they might be using to attrack a good catch. I approached him while he was sitting in his boat at the motel preparing his gear. I asked him if I met him somewhere we never could pin it down but agreed it must have been on the Tournament trail somewhere . We thought it might have been on the Red Man trail which no longer lives. Now the FLW and Bass,Bassmasters and PAA just some of the big tournament trails have replaced the old Red Man. Now where was I? Oh yes. When I met this fellow and after the how you doin , we began to talk about the old days and how things has changed since then. At my surprise others came along and all began talking liked we knew each other for years. We all gave advice and told our stories and about new ideas in fishing. Yes you guess it we even talked about the going thing now the A Rigg or some call it the umbrella rigg. Believe me almost all the Pro's and Co Anglers had one and were fishing them and they are deadly when things are right. Well after everything settled down from the excitement being there at the Lake and all the Bass Boats showing up we decided it was time to go to our different motel rooms and get some rest for the next day . To my surprise I got a call on the room phone and it was this fellow inviting me to the local cafe for some coffee and a bit to eat...of course I said yes I figured what a better way to build a friendship. The visit went great talking about the travel and our families and how life is when you want to fish and all your heart and soul is in fishing. We talked about sponsors and equipment and so on. Later we went back to our rooms and got well needed rest. The next evening was like the first evening we talked and became more friendly and at ease talking with each other. This ends Part ONE...In the next part I am going to introduce this fellow and show his picture and I have a few things I would like to share with you about this gentleman and I do mean gentleman...
